It is a fictional story set on the backdrop of true incidents about India winning its first gold medal in field hockey as a free nation in the 1948 Summer Olympics.[3]
Filming[edit]
The Arjuna Award winner and former Indian national hockey team captain, Sandeep Singh, was signed to train the actors to improve their hockey skills.[4]
Director Reema Kagti said, "It’s a fictional take on what happened. Also, it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history."[5] Principal photography for the film began on 1 July 2017.[6]
On 10 December 2017, Akshay Kumar announced that filming was complete.[7][8] The teaser for the film was launched on 5 February 2018.[9]
Music[edit]
Sachin-Jigar[2] will compose songs and background music for the film. Additional songs will be composed by Arko Pravo Mukherjee[2]and Tanishk Bagchi.[2] Lyrics will be written by Javed Akhtar.[2] The movie also samples songs such as the Colonel Bogey March and Indias National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
Release[edit]
The movie is due to be released on 15th August 2018 in India, to tie-in with Independence_Day_(India). International distribution has not yet been announced, but is expected to be about the same time.
